Case Sofa 1.5 Seater, High Back

$5,260

Description

Case by award-winning German designer, Sebastian Herkner, is a collection of sofas that breathes the cocooning comfort and calmness of the home into workplace and hospitality settings. Resting atop an elegant wooden base, the collection consists of Case High Back, Case Low Back, Case Combi and Case Hub.

Though having a grand form, Herkner’s simple and slender lines leave the series with a stringent and light expression without compromising on the comfort and function of the design.

To further elevate and lighten the impression, Sebastian Herkner has added an elegant detail to the exterior back, which folds under the sofa. This approach to the design interrupts the monumental look while also creating an oblique angle inside that forms the sofa’s backrest.

Viewed from behind, the folded back gives the sofa a sculptural dimension. The fold also reveals the complexity of the construction, making the side elements appear even more slender.

CASE SERIES:

  • Case High Back: 1.5 str. / 2 str. / 2.5 str.
  • Case Low Back: 1.5 str. / 2 str. / 2.5 str.
  • Case Combi: 1.5 str. / 2 str.
  • Case Hub V1 and V2

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Sebastian Herkner
Sebastian Herkner

It took the German designer Sebastian Herkner only a few years to convince the whole design scene of his talent with his unusual material mixes and timeless shapes, always managing to communicate an impression of sensibility. Today, he is contributing to the collections of the most important design houses worldwide and has won numerous awards for his design.

When designing everyday objects, Sebastian Herkner is influenced by his observations of people and their actions. In this context it is important to look beyond your own disciplines in order to achieve a value-added for the user. Herkner is not so much influenced by trends or current consumer criteria, because what interests him is a collage of simple techniques and traditional materials coupled with a simple mechanical principle and an unambiguous function. His idea of sustainability consists of employing traditional manufacturing techniques and their unique character. He then combines and interprets this by employing new technologies and finishing methods.
